Asparagus Jersey Jewel Asparagus Officinalis Bundle/10

Jersey Jewel is an all-male hybrid, which results in high yielding plants. The brats, or emerging asparagus stems, are purple and change to a beautiful green as they grow.

Let foliage stand over winter to insulate crowns and manufacture food for a better crop, cut back in spring; fusarium resistant, enrich soil with compost.

Planting instructions: Dig a trench 12 inches wide and 6-8 inches deep. Place crowns in trench 15-24 inches apart on slight mounds of soil, making the crowns higher thatn the roots. Spread out roots and cover with 2-3 inches of soil. Firm down. As plants grow, pull more soil into the trench until filled. Allow your plants to grow without harvesting for at least the first year, selectively harvest the second year and freely harvest thereafter.

Harvest when spears are 5-9 inches tall by breaking at soil level.
