A medium-sized, slender, well-branched tree form shrub with bright green serrated leaves. It is easily grown, tolerating a wide range of soil and moisture conditions. It produces purple blossoms in late summer. Note: Althea is considered a woody shrub or tree and will not die back to the ground in winter like hardy hibiscus.
