A lovely combination of tart and sweet, the Stayman Winesap apple has been popular since the days of the pioneers. They are not only tasty but also long-lived after being harvested, lasting 6 months or more in the refrigerator. The rich, wine-like flavor works well for applesauce, pies and cider, and they are delicious when eaten fresh.

Stayman Winesap is a Triploid apple, meaning it is sterile. It will not help pollinate other trees in your orchard. If planting a Triploid apple tree, you will need two other varieties which can cross-pollinate each other as well as the triploid variety.

Another alternative is to plant a white blooming Crabapple tree in the area to aid in cross pollination of any apple tree.

Rootstock: MM.111

Flowering group: 4*

*Flowering group indicates bloom period for cross-pollination. All the apple trees we carry will need cross pollination from another (different) apple tree. For best pollination, choose 2 or more trees that have the same Flowering group or an adjacent group. For example: Flowering group 3 tree can be pollinated by groups 2, 3 and 4
